About us
Mara VetCare is a mobile veterinary practice run by Mara Tudorache MRCVS (RCVS registration 7196742, practice number 7523630), based in Conisbrough, Doncaster DN12 2BH. We provide veterinary services at your home; we don’t have a clinic.
Prices
Our prices are published on our prices page. They are for a typical case and may be higher in more complex cases; if so, we’ll explain why and confirm the cost with you before going ahead, wherever possible. We are not VAT registered, so the prices shown are what you pay.
Extra fees apply for Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, extended-hours fees may apply outside our regular hours, and a travel fee applies in our extended area. We tell you the total before the visit.
Booking and visits
A visit is booked once we have confirmed the date, time and cost with you. Please make sure an adult (18 or over) who can make decisions about the pet is present, and that the pet can be safely handled, in a quiet room where possible.
Mara will decide, using her professional judgement, whether a treatment can safely be carried out at home. If your pet needs a clinic, we will refer you.
Payment
Payment is by cash or bank transfer, on the day of the visit unless we agree otherwise.
Cancellations
Please tell us as early as possible if you need to cancel. A £100 fee applies if a visit is cancelled after Mara has set off. We understand that, with end-of-life visits in particular, circumstances can change, and we will always treat those situations with sensitivity.
Prescriptions and medicines
You can ask for a written prescription and buy medicines elsewhere. Prescription fees are shown on our prices page. Some medicines can only be prescribed after Mara has examined your pet recently.
Home euthanasia
Before a euthanasia, the owner, or a person authorised by the owner, will be asked to sign a consent form. Aftercare (cremation, collection or burial at home) is chosen by you, and its price is confirmed beforehand. If you choose cremation through us, Mara takes your pet into her care and arranges it with our partner crematorium.
Pet travel and export certificates
Certificates can only be issued if your pet meets the official requirements on the day. Please give us accurate information about your pet, your travel dates and your destination. The rules are set by the government and the destination country, and can change; we check the current rules before each certificate, but we can’t be responsible for decisions made at a border. Fast-track prices apply when you give us under 120 hours’ notice.
Pet transport
- Our pet transport is for planned, non-emergency appointments at veterinary practices in our area. It isn’t an ambulance service.
- You travel separately and meet us at the veterinary practice. We don’t transport people.
- Cats, small pets and birds travel in a secure carrier; dogs travel secured in a crate or with a suitable restraint. Please tell us about your pet’s size, temperament, health and mobility when you book.
- You must be reachable by phone during the journey.
- If your pet becomes unwell during the journey, we will stop as soon as it is safe, call you straight away and take your pet to your vet practice or the nearest open practice, as agreed with you. Any treatment there is between you and that practice.
- The price is confirmed before we book and depends on the distance and whether you need a return trip.
