Animal Health Certificates for EU travel
Taking your dog, cat or ferret to the EU? Mara is an Official Veterinarian. She checks your pet, prepares the paperwork and makes sure nothing is missed.
An EU Animal Health Certificate costs £100 for one pet, up to £190 for five pets on the same certificate. Your pet needs a microchip and a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel, and the certificate must be issued no more than 10 days before you enter the EU. Ideally, contact us about a month before you travel.

Pet travel questions
Can I use one certificate for several trips?
No. Each trip into the EU needs a new certificate. It’s valid for 10 days to enter the EU, then for 6 months of onward travel within the EU and for returning to Great Britain.
Do I need a certificate for Northern Ireland?
No. If you live in Great Britain, apply online for a free Northern Ireland pet travel document, which lasts for as long as you own your pet. Your pet needs a microchip. Travelling on from Northern Ireland to another country needs different documents.
Can I use my pet passport?
If you live in England, Scotland or Wales, you can’t use a pet passport to take your pet to the EU, even one issued in an EU country. You need an Animal Health Certificate for each trip.
Where do I collect the certificate?
From our base in Conisbrough. Delivery is available for an extra fee; ask us for the price.
What if my dog is going to Ireland, Finland, Malta or Norway?
Dogs travelling directly to these countries need tapeworm treatment given by a vet between 24 hours and 5 days before arrival, recorded on the certificate. Mara can plan this with you.
