Good to know

Dogs are usually vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and leptospirosis, and cats against cat flu and feline enteritis. Kennel cough vaccination is often needed for boarding kennels, and rabies vaccination for travel abroad. Mara recommends the vaccines that suit your pet’s lifestyle.

Questions

Why does my pet need a booster every year?

Protection from some vaccines fades within about a year, while others last longer. Mara follows a schedule that gives the vaccines your pet needs when they need them, and the yearly visit includes a full health check.

When should my puppy or kitten start vaccinations?

Usually from around 8 to 9 weeks of age, with a second vaccination a few weeks later. Mara will set the dates for your puppy or kitten and tell you when it’s safe for them to go out.

My pet’s vaccinations have lapsed. What now?

Don’t worry. Depending on how long it has been, your pet may need a restart course of two vaccinations. Mara will check the record and advise.

Can you vaccinate several pets in one visit?

Yes. You pay one travel fee for the visit and the vaccinations for each pet.
